James Lacey

James moved to New Zealand in 2001 from the UK, where he quickly became involved in boating, especially with the New Zealand Coastguard.

Having found a passion for boating, and more so, for teaching, he trained as a Coastguard and Royal Yachting Association practical and theory tutor.

After working as Operations Manager for the Coastguard in Auckland for two and a half years, and recently as Navigator in different parts of the world for a Seismic survey Company, he is now concentrating his efforts on Teaching full time, and setting up Morningtide as a Maritime shool providing practical on the water training.

His clients vary from private individuals wanting to learn the basics on their own boats to Search and Rescue crews on their specialist rescue boats as well as government and corporate entities.

With experience helming for the Auckland Harbourmaster, holding a New Zealand Commercial ticket, and as a Maritime New Zealand Safe boating Advisor James has a depth of knowledge that would benefit any boatie, whether fresh on the water or looking to gain more experience.
